Ecuador wants military base in Miami

NAPLES (Reuters) - Ecuador's leftist President Rafael Correa said Washington must let him open a military base in Miami if the United States wants to keep using an air base on Ecuador's Pacific coast.

Correa has refused to renew Washington's lease on the Manta air base, set to expire in 2009. U.S. officials say it is vital for counter-narcotics surveillance operations on Pacific drug-running routes.

"We'll renew the base on one condition: that they let us put a base in Miami -- an Ecuadorean base," Correa said in an interview during a trip to Italy. "If there's no problem having foreign soldiers on a country's soil, surely they'll let us have an Ecuadorean base in the United States."

Montel: Another Casualty of the War

Montel changes the subject from Heath Leger to the number of troop deaths since the beginning of the year.
Two things to note: 1) He didn't return at the end of the break and 2) 3 days later, a bunch of Fox stations decided not to renew his contract, and his show was cancelled. Coincidence?

Trouble in the Middle East!!

From Daily Paul:
US Crashes Internet In Middle East After Saudi Threat, Russia Responds With Air Forces
By: Sorcha Faal, and as reported to her Western Subscribers

Reports circulating in the Kremlin today are painting a grim picture of just how desperate US War Leaders have become as their economy continues its freefall towards total bankruptcy by their crashing of Global Internet access for the Middle East's banking centers in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, Iran, UAR, Turkey and Kuwait.

These reports state that the Americans became "enraged" this past week when the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) rejected US demands for an immediate increase in oil production.

Further angering the Americans this past week was Turkey's rejection of US demands for them to sever banking ties with Iran's Bank Mellat, and which allows Iranian continued access to Global banking resources.

But, these reports state, the greatest fears of the United States were raised this past week when Saudi Arabia "warned" the United States to "back off" of its threats against Iran or face the Saudi's decoupling the US Dollar from its enormous World oil trade transactions.

Though the American President [pictured top left with Saudi King] personally went to the Saudi Kingdom to lobby the US's Middle East allies in agreeing for attacks against Iran for the Iranians decoupling of the US Dollar from its oil trade, Bush was quickly rebuffed.

It should be noted that those Nations who have dared to decoupled the US Dollar from their oil trade, Iraq, Iran, Russia and Venezuela, have come under withering attacks from the Americans, and their Western Allies; none worse than the Iraqis who are reported to have suffered over 1 million deaths since being invaded by the US in 2003.

But, as these reports state, the "worst nightmare" of the Americans appeared to be coming true this past week when their Saudi Arabian allies were reported to have begun the decoupling of the US Dollar from their oil trade with the intention of replacing the rapidly declining American currency with the European Euro.

American War Leaders, though, have had previous warnings of the Saudis growing fears of being the holders of trillions of declining US Dollars with Saudi Arabia, for the first time, refusing to drop their interest rates in "lock-step" with the US Federal Reserve, and leading to fears of a "stampede" by other Middle Eastern Nations out of US Dollar backed assets.

Under such a threat, and with the Saudi King growing closer to Iran's President Ahmadinejad [both pictured top left 2nd photo], Russian Military Analysts state in these reports that the United States invoked one of their so called "nuclear options" by severing the three major undersea cables connecting the Middle East's major banking centers to their Western, and Global, counterparts.
The significance to the severing of these cables is the Middle East Banking Centers being denied access to the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT), based in Brussels and which carries up to 12.7 million messages a day containing instructions on many of the International transfers of money between banks, lies in Saudi Arabia, or any other Middle East Nation, being unable to change their previously, before loss of communication, encoded currency instructions from being changed.

Moscow's actions against the West, in the severing by the United States of these cables, was swift as President Putin ordered Russian Air Force Fighters and Bombers to take immediate action to protect the Russian Nations vital undersea cables in the Arctic and Atlantic Oceans.

To some of the Russian Air Force assets used we can read as reported by the Reuters News Service article titled "Russia sends bombers, fighters to Atlantic, Arctic", and which says:

"Air force pilots will carry out practice in the areas involving reconnaissance, missile-bombing attacks on a navy attack force of a hypothetical enemy, air-to-air combat and refuelling and patrolling," an air force spokesman said. The bomber group included two Tupolev Tu-160 strategic bombers, codenamed "Blackjack" by NATO, two turbo-prop Tu-95 "Bear" strategic bombers, and eight Tu-22 "Blinder" bombers. MiG-31 and Su-27 fighters were also sent to the region."

To the final outcome of these events it is not in our knowing, other than one Russian Banking Official, wishing to remain anonymous, stating that, "Should the Saudi's effectively decouple their oil from the US Dollar, the United States, for all practical purposes will cease to be a World power as it economy will collapse completely as the US Dollar has no value in and of itself due to the staggering debt of the Americans. Without oil they are nothing."]

McCain finished 894th out of 899 at the Naval Academy and lost five jets!

From LewRockwell.com:
McCareless

Thanks to Ralph Raico, who sends along this comment from Steve Sailer: 'Will McCain, who finished 894th out of 899 at the Naval Academy and who lost five jets, return competence to the White House? To paraphrase Oscar Wilde (and, no, Oscar was never a fighter pilot), to lose one plane over Vietnam may be regarded as a heroic tragedy; to lose five planes here and there looks like carelessness.

Ron Paul endorsed by The American Conservative Magazine

February 11, 2008 Issue
Copyright © 2008 The American Conservative

The presidential fields of both parties have narrowed, and the arguments about how we should move forward are now familiar. TAC believes that only one candidate has put forth a diagnosis of America’s current ills and has a vision to turn the country off its misguided course. That is Congressman Ron Paul, whom we endorse for the Republican nomination.

On the key issue of foreign policy, the differences between the other Republican contenders can be measured in microdots. All remain enthusiastic supporters of the invasion of Iraq and of maintaining a presence there for years to come. All speak as if it is America’s right and duty to station its armed forces over much of the world. All have embraced neoconservative paranoia about the “threat” posed by Iran, setting the table for another war. All, that is, except Dr. Paul.

He is the one candidate who sees how the realities of world power have shifted since the 1990s, the one who recognizes that the time of unilateral American hegemony is over—and can’t be maintained even if it was in our interest to do so. He alone understands that the ever expanding federal government is a far greater threat to American liberty than some tinpot dictator in the Caucasus. By speaking about the benefits of smaller government and limited executive power, he has introduced a generation of young Americans to a more traditional and true style of conservatism—to the movement and the country’s benefit."

The Madness of John McCain

The Madness of John McCain: "John McCain’s reputation as a maverick is no recent contrivance. The senator first captured the media spotlight in September 1983, not long after he’d been elected to his first term in the House, when he voted against President Reagan’s decision to put American troops in Lebanon as part of a multinational “peacekeeping” force. One of 27 Republicans to break with the White House, the freshman McCain made a floor speech that reads as if it might have been written yesterday—by Ron Paul:
The fundamental question is: What is the United States’ interest in Lebanon? It is said we are there to keep the peace. I ask, what peace? It is said we are there to aid the government. I ask, what government? It is said we are there to stabilize the region. I ask, how can the U.S. presence stabilize the region?... The longer we stay in Lebanon, the harder it will be for us to leave. We will be trapped by the case we make for having our troops there in the first place.
What can we expect if we withdraw from Lebanon? The same as will happen if we stay. I acknowledge that the level of fighting will increase if we leave. I regretfully acknowledge that many innocent civilians will be hurt. But I firmly believe this will happen in any event."

Ron Paul has a shot at winning Maine caucuses - Ron Paul- msnbc.com: "AUGUSTA, Maine - Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul has a couple of things going for him at this weekend's Republican caucuses: a band of highly motivated supporters and a natural appeal to Maine's like-minded independents.

The Racist Card

The media loves to smear only the people it doesn't like. Here's a "fair and balanced" overview of some choice racist remarks from the actual 2008 presidential contenders.

The Difference: Barack Obama & Ron Paul

Iraq, Iran: All About the Benjamins

A very interesting read about the dollar and the real reason we went to war with Iraq. Article by Krassimir Petrov, published originally on 17 Jan, 2006 but still very relevant and informative. (Thanks to cdwitmer at the Daily Paul.)

From EnergyBulletin.net:
"A nation-state taxes its own citizens, while an empire taxes other nation-states. The history of empires, from Greek and Roman, to Ottoman and British, teaches that the economic foundation of every single empire is the taxation of other nations. The imperial ability to tax has always rested on a better and stronger economy, and as a consequence, a better and stronger military. One part of the subject taxes went to improve the living standards of the empire; the other part went to strengthen the military dominance necessary to enforce the collection of those taxes.

Historically, taxing the subject state has been in various forms—usually gold and silver, where those were considered money, but also slaves, soldiers, crops, cattle, or other agricultural and natural resources, whatever economic goods the empire demanded and the subject-state could deliver. Historically, imperial taxation has always been direct: the subject state handed over the economic goods directly to the empire.

For the first time in history, in the twentieth century, America was able to tax the world indirectly, through inflation. It did not enforce the direct payment of taxes like all of its predecessor empires did, but distributed instead its own fiat currency, the U.S. Dollar, to other nations in exchange for goods with the intended consequence of inflating and devaluing those dollars and paying back later each dollar with less economic goods—the difference capturing the U.S. imperial tax. Here is how this happened."

Fred To Drop Out

From Marc Ambinder on his thatlantic.com blog:
"Ex-Sen. Fred Thompson has told several Republicans that he has decided to drop out of the presidential race and will make public his intentions by close of business.
Thompson does not plan to endorse any rivals for now, even though one of his best friends is Sen. John McCain.
He's been visiting his mother, who is ill, in Tennessee."

If Thompson endorses McCain, it's certainly not going to be rewarded with a spot on his ticket as a running mate. It's almost certain that will go to his new BFF Joe Lieberman. McCain and his dad have been very big supporters of Israel (Google McCain USS Liberty), so this makes a lot of sense. If Thompson really wants to make a difference and seriously impact this race then an endorsement of Ron Paul would be really huge. C'mon Fred! Do the right thing!!

I DON'T Heart Huckabee!

Huckabee's latest: Shrewd or Crude?

From
Digital Journal:
"Mike Huckabee recently called a press conference, in a room filled with negative posters about Mitt Romney, presumably to unveil a new ad campaign. Before the new ad was played however, Mr. Huckabee seemed to have a change of heart. He told reporters the ad would be pulled… but not before showing it to “every news outlet in the country,” according to Fox News"

Can this guy be trusted? The terms "snake in the grass" and "weasel" come to mind.

McCain Connection to the USS Liberty Incident

I first heard about this incident through Alex Jones' excellent documentary Terrorstorm. Now I read that John McCain's father was in the middle of this whole incident. I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree when it comes to an overzealous support of Israel.

From dissidentvoice.org:
Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) is the “Conscience of the Senate.” Nevertheless, he won’t come clean about what really happened to the USS Liberty, at the hands of the Israelis, via napalm, gunfire, torpedoes and missiles, on June 8, 1967, 13 miles off the coast of the Sinai Peninsula. McCain’s conscience, it seems, has its limits. I suspect it’s because the powerful Israeli Lobby weighs in so ominously in Washington, DC, protecting the interests of its favorite country -- Israel -- and making sure the mostly mousey congress people are kept totally in line or else. Will ‘Ace’ McCain Flame Out Again?

This is from 2000, but since it's all historical, there's nothing new about it anyway. Still, for anyone who still thinks that Senator McCain is a great choice for prez, please educate yourself on who this guy really is--another "fortunate son", albeit from a military family.

From FreeRepublic.com:
"Over the years he’s played many roles and worn many titles, including Navy aviator, prisoner of war, hero, congressman, U.S. senator, Washington insider, maverick outsider and, now, presidential candidate. But the one title of which few are aware is that of “service ace.”

John Sidney McCain III is known among many of his Vietnam flight buddies as “Ace” McCain. This title has not been bestowed upon McCain because he destroyed five enemy aircraft. On the contrary: It was five on our side — in fact, five of his own. Since throwing his hat into the presidential ring, the fact that McCain was graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy nearly at the bottom of his class has been publicized. His star-crossed flying, on the other hand, remains unknown to most."

Microsoft charges customers for free services

From WindowsSecrets.com:
"Thousands of customers are paying almost $120 USD per year to Microsoft for an Internet subscription service that includes e-mail, security, and other features.

But Microsoft gives away almost identical services absolutely free in Windows Live and the Windows operating system itself, while neglecting to inform those who pay through the nose.

Free Windows Live eclipses MSN Premium

Microsoft's for-pay service, known as MSN Premium, is a collection of broadband features that must be accessed through a special browser: MSN Explorer. Once downloaded and installed, this browser supports Web surfing, an interface for e-mail and calendar programs, and Microsoft's online encyclopedia, Encarta Premium. Other features, such as an included digital image editor, are accessible by launching a separate application."

Judith Regan explains why Fox loves Giuliani

From Salon.com
"Nov. 15 2007 | Of all the allegations contained in former ReganBooks Publisher Judith Regan's lawsuit against her one-time employers at Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., the most explosive is the first. Regan charges that News Corp. executives wanted to destroy her reputation because she knew too much about her ex-boyfriend&emdash;former New York City Police Commissioner Bernie Kerik&emdash;and that what she knew could be harmful to the presidential hopes of Rudy Giuliani&emdash;whom she depicts as the preferred candidate of News Corp. and its subsidiary, Fox News. According to Regan s suit, 'This smear campaign was necessary to advance News Corp.'s political agenda which has long centered on protecting Rudy Giuliani's presidential ambitions.'

'Regan and the married Kerik had a well-publicized yearlong affair. Their assignations often took place in a lower Manhattan apartment that had been specifically reserved for the use of workers in the aftermath of 9 11. After Giuliani left the mayor's office on January 1 2002, Kerik went to work for him as a consultant at Giuliani Partners. Kerik and Regan broke up later in 2002. In December 2004, according to Regan s complaint, when President Bush tapped Kerik at Giuliani's recommendation to head the federal Department of Homeland Security Regan was pressured to keep quiet and asked to lie on Kerik s behalf. ' "[A] senior executive in the News Corp. organization told Regan that he believed she had information about Kerik that, if disclosed, would harm Giuliani's presidential campaign. This executive advised Regan to lie to, and to withhold information from, investigators concerning Kerik. ... [D]efendants knew they would be protecting Giuliani if they could preemptively discredit her."

Cause he’ll stop all the wars where the bombs fall
So it’s Ron Paul, we gotta stand tall
Every other politician made the wrong call and passed the wrong laws
We need a long pause from the lies, that’s why we need Ron Paul
We need truth like the border needs a strong wall (yo, yo)

Or the fact that most people live in one-room shacks
Or the fact that our economy’s about to collapse
And the fact that most whites won’t vote for a black
And besides, he’s a gun-control free-trade pro-tax
More-war still takes AIPAC kick-backs
Like John Edwards a tool of the Israeli war-crime clean-break murder…
We need Ron Paul, for the long haul
Cuz he’ll stop all the wars where the bombs fall
So it’s Ron Paul, we gotta stand tall

For the Constitution
While these other politicians sell souls like prostitution
Ron Paul stood tall against the patriot act
All the Abu Graihb torture and never raised taxes
Voted down NAFTA
Voted down CAFTA
Says that the free trade bill’s a disaster
You see we got to stop it all, and return to bilateral trade
And get us out of an age where the people are losing freedom
Get us out of the cage
Or the banks will treat us all like cattle and slaves
We need Ron Paul, for the long haul
Cuz he’ll stop all the wars where the bombs fall
So it’s Ron Paul, we gotta stand tall
Every other politician made the wrong call
Passed the wrong laws, we need a long pause

RonPaul2008.com
Yo, it’s all real, man. You know what I’m sayin’, they’re about to run World War IV real soon against Iran, you know so chew on that, bro. They got aircraft carriers in position to strike Iran, moving nuclear-armed planes to launch Armageddon in the middle-east. And if Cheney, and the Pentagon generals and the bankers that control him don’t do it, the next president will. You know, why do you think every single candidate, Obama included, is talking about bombing Iran? You gotta see the big picture, that’s why we call this album Tha Big Picture. You gotta think beyond Iraq, but most of these candidates, including all of the major media darlings are globalist banker hand-puppet leaches off the major international crime syndicate, dealing the oil, dealing drugs, dealing the weapons, but you know what I’m saying Ron Paul is the real deal. I say, death to British Petroleum, death to Shell Oil Company, and Lockheed, and Raithion and SAIC, and Stratcom and Northcom, this is the REAL revolution, this is the real hip-hop, this is Roy Shivers, this is King Solomon, this is talent

Robertson for Rudy (by Jim Wallis)

"Pat Robertson's endorsement of Rudy Giuliani for president is simply astonishing. Robertson - the television preacher who founded the 700 Club and once ran for president himself - has made opposition to abortion and same sex marriage his political north star and has been a relentless champion of traditional marriage and family values. Remember Robertson's merciless attacks on President Bill Clinton's lapses of sexual morality with Monica Lewinsky? Or his comments about how the 9/11 attacks were the result of America's tolerance for homosexuals and abortion? Now Robertson is for Rudy, a thrice married adulterous husband, who is estranged from his own children and is both pro-choice and pro-gay rights. According to Pat Robertson's twisted moral logic, forgiving the social conservative shortcomings of Republicans is a Christian virtue, so long as the same virtue is never applied to Democrats. But Pat thinks Rudy can beat Hillary, and Pat really cares about winning for the Republicans."

Rudy Giuliani has caught the wrath of some gays who feel he's flip-flopped on his support of gay rights. Hell hath no fury like a queen scorned! Watch Gays For Giuliani: "A Gay Leader". It's pretty funny.

Ron Paul Support is a Conspiracy, claims National Media

Major media outlets have denied fund raising reports, rally attendance, and record breaking internet support as the work of a small secretive group of Ron Paul supporters conspiring to defraud the public. Is it time for them to give up this conspiracy theory before they lose credibility?

How to Embed FLV Flash Videos in your Blog

"Video Sharing Sites like Youtube or Google video provide simple HTML code for embedding their video clips in your web pages. But sometimes we want to add raw Flash Video files like SWF animations or FLV [streaming or progressive] which are frequently used by News or media websites.

Now to embed flash video files, you can either download the flv or swf flash video to your hard drive, convert it to avi, wmv or mov format and then upload it to your Youtube account. Then you can use the Youtube supplied HTML code to embed that video in your webpage or blog. The video will play wrapped inside the Youtube or Google Video player skin.

The above approach works but is clearly not the best way to do things. What if the original video is updated - then you will have to revisit the whole encoding-decoding cycle again. Secondly, there will be considerable loss in video quality when it is converted from one format to another and Youtube is definitely not the best place to see high resolution video clips. They will degrade it to 320x240 size clip.

So here's a very easy way for embedding flash videos in your website without loosing any quality. [Read More]

Mentos World Record Attempt

Get fresh! This looks like a lot of fun to make and a royal pain to clean up.

Speaking of Mentos, the Mentos FAQ is probably one of the funniest bits of Internet history out there. Just reading some of these, I feel a little fresh and breezy. Truly great comic descriptive writing!

Ron Paul Revolution BIG Interstate Billboards!

This video could have been edited down a bit, but the amount of work that went into making this extraordinary advertising for Ron Paul is really impressive. I would be very surprised if any other candidate has anything close to this kind of dedication from supporters.

Congressman Ron Paul has helped HUNDREDS of our veterans

This is how they talk in East Texas! Nice old guy shows that Ron Paul really cares about veterans. Great congressional ad that still works well to show that Ron Paul comes through for people.

Following us home

Somewhere in Washington, there's a catchphrase factory pumping out dumb new words and slogans that become the neocon mantra. "Islamofascists" and "global terrorism" are the de rigeur bon mots in any self-respecting neocon scare speech. One oft-repeated argument I have heard way too many times is this notion that if we "just leave" the terrorists in Iraq, then they will "follow us home".

It's a stupid argument, partly because it is often presented with no facts to back it up—just the kind of stubborn assurance that got us into this war. It also makes no sense, because it presumes that these guys have war planes or war ships that will attack us as we are attacking them. Or else, it presumes that it's just as easy for them to come here and kill us as it is for them to kill us over there. That is patently false. They like us over there, because we are saving them all of that transportation cost they'd have to incur to kill us in the U.S.

Thinkprogress.org did a great piece on all of this. Follow this link to its home. ;-)

The case for a Ron Paul presidency

Fun with Crooks

Back around 1992, I received a very strange letter in my P.O. Box. It was typewritten and from Nigeria and made mention of a great deal of money that could be sent my way if I were to assist in some bizarre scheme. I vaguely remember the amount being about 10 million dollars. I don't recall any more, but I thought it was one of the oddest and most unbelievable letters I had ever received. So, I saved it, but never replied. Years later, I worked for an ecommerce company, whose number 1 rule was to never trust any orders from Nigeria. I didn't make the connection right away, but within a few days of working there, I saw that we did indeed receive a lot of online orders from Nigeria for our most expensive products. Every one of these orders was bogus, my boss assured me. And he was right.

It seems that a lot of others have noticed this aggressive scamming going on by folks in Nigeria, and have even taken to writing back and "scamming the scammers". Some very amusing exchanges have gone on with a lot of laughs being had at the expense of the those trying to swindle their savvy "victims".

One of my favorite stories comes from the website 419eater.com.

The Incredible Shrinking Artwork is the story of a guy who tricks this con-man into sending him statues to compete for a lucrative contest and then convinces him that the entries were damaged en route.

Sweet Chili Sauce is another site promoting a book called Dances with Thieves that relates many stories of messing with con men. Some are laugh-out-loud funny!

Finally, there was a great spoof done about a fake Nigerian Email Symposium a few years ago that is a riot!

Priests Protesting Torture at Fort Huachuca Jailed for Justice

From CommonDreams.org:
"TUCSON, Arizona — October 17 — Louis Vitale, 75, a Franciscan priest, and Steve Kelly, 58, a Jesuit priest, were each sentenced today to five months in federal prison for attempting to deliver a letter opposing the teaching of torture at Fort Huachuca in Arizona. Both priests were taken directly into jail from the courtroom after sentencing. 1017 10Fort Huachuca is the headquarters of military intelligence in the U.S. and the place where military and civilian interrogators are taught how to extract information from prisoners. The priests attempted to deliver their letter to Major General Barbara Fast, commander of Fort Huachuca. Fast was previously the head of all military intelligence in Iraq during the atrocities of Abu Ghraib.

In a pre-trial heating, the priests attempted to introduce evidence of torture, murder, and gross violations of human rights in Afghanistan, Abu Ghraib in Iraq, and at Guantanamo. The priests offered investigative reports from the FBI, the US Army, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and Physicians for Social Responsibility documenting hundreds of incidents of human rights violations. Despite increasing evidence of the use of torture by U.S. forces sanctioned by President Bush and others, the federal court in Tucson refused to allow any evidence of torture, the legality of the invasion of Iraq, or international law to be a part of the trial"

Israel asks U.S. foreign aid be paid in EUROS

From Wake Up From Your Slumber:
"Israel asks U.S. foreign aid be paid in EUROS FYI - the Euro is now worth about 1.4 US Dollars. Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni Secretary of State Rice has acknowledged a communique from Israeli foreign minister Tzipi Levni which requests that all foreign aid payments and loans from the United States be made in Euros rather than in Dollars. Foreign Minister Levni cited the rapidly declining dollar and it's disfavor as a world currency as reasons for the request.

'In the spirit of Yom Kippur, the United States will not hold Israel to any agreements obligating them to accept Dollars as payment for their foreign aid. We will translate our obligations into Euros or whatever currency that best fits Israel's needs' Secretary Rice said in the Friday, Sept 21 announcement.

'We need to place our Israeli obligations at the top of our national priority list. Israel should not suffer any inconvenience due to currency fluctuations' said Rice before heading off to Camp David. A similar request from Egypt was declined last week."

Now that's chutzpah!

Brownback To Announce He's Leaving the Race

Republican Sen. Sam Brownback, the Kansas conservative who struggled to raise money and gain recognition in the 2008 presidential campaign, will drop out on Friday, people close to him said Thursday.

Only makes this 2 month video that much more silly. I wonder who he's gonna endorse? I'm sure he's in a dilemma over who to support, as he probably wants to support the guy with the greatest chance of winning, who will then "owe him something".

Lucky Lieberman?

File this under "What are the odds?" From Rense.com:
"We may have the clearest evidence of vote fraud coming out of Connecticut with the re-election of Pro-Israel Joe Lieberman as an Independent. http://www.rumormillnews.com/cgi-bin/forum.cgi?read=95480 Now, how exactly did Lieberman win TWO elections and his two opponents got exactly the SAME number of votes at exactly 448,077 votes each time?!?! 'In Connecticut Ned Lamont (Dem.) lost EXACTLY with THE SAME number of votes as did Phil Giordano (Rep.) collected in 2000.' Any of you mathematical geniuses want to calculate the odds on that? It is beyond staggering. It is statistically IMPOSSIBLE and could not happen twice in one million years, much less twice in 6 years for one lucky Pro-Israel Jewish Senator. I think this matter needs to be investigated because it is smoking hot and beyond outrageous."

You can google this for yourself: Lieberman 448,077. You'll get lots of results.

Giuliani Is Everyone's Worst Nightmare

From chuckbaldwinlive.com:
"Former New York City Mayor and Republican Presidential contender Rudy Giuliani said this week that he was 'liberals' worst nightmare.' However, the truth is, Rudy Giuliani is everyone's worst nightmare. That Rudy Giuliani is currently trying to cast himself as a conservative is beyond laughable--it is hilarious. This is a man who is unabashedly pro-abortion. He has been seen walking down Fifth Avenue with thousands of homosexuals demanding 'gay rights.' He himself is a cross-dresser. He has had numerous marriages and only God knows how many sexual affairs. He has been one of the country's most radical proponents of gun control. He made New York a sanctuary city for illegal aliens and is a strong proponent of amnesty for illegal aliens. As a prosecutor, his abuse of power and disregard for law are legendary. (See http://www.lewrockwell.com/roberts/roberts208.html ) In addition, Rudy Giuliani is a senior partner in the law firm that 'represents CITGO, the oil company controlled by Venezuela's anti-American and terrorist-supporting ruler Hugo Chavez.' Giuliani's law firm also acts 'as the exclusive legal counsel for Cintra, the Spanish firm that has been granted the right to operate a toll road in the Trans-Texas Corridor (TTC) project.'"

Another Anti-Rudy Movie: Giuliani Time

Another goodie on Google Video! This is a very thoroughly-researched movie which goes to great length to document the life and career of Rudy Giuliani. The title of the film refers to a catchphrase coined by the NYPD to indicate acceptable police brutality aimed at cracking down on street crime.

The movie does not gloss over the mayors many accomplishments, but it also manages to catch him during his most embarrassing public moments, such as the awkward cross-dressing video made with Donald Trump and as the object of a demonstration where citizens of New York lined up to "throw a doodie at Rudy". At this event, frustrated Big Apple residents were able to toss dung at a depiction of Rudy as the Virgin Mary–a reference to his attack on a controversial artist. Don't miss the ironic clip at the end, featuring the late Bishop Sheen, seemingly lambasting this cradle catholic.

How anyone would want to vote for or support this man after watching this movie is beyond my understanding. It's close to 2 hours long, but if you're at all curious about what makes America's Ex-Mayor tick, I would recommend watching this.

Washingtonpost.com gives Ron Paul a fair interview!!!

Washington Post's Michael Shear interviews Ron Paul and talks about coming across angry, raising $5 million, and whether he'll seek a third party bid for the presidency. No set-up questions or antagonism--just a good straight interview. In other words, not the norm for a Paul interview from the MSM. Also broadcast on XM Radio, POTUS08 channel.

Rudy Giuliani Provides Plenty of Comic Material

Poor Rudy Giuliani. Such an easy guy to make fun of! Here are a few great jokes from an excellent political humor site.

'Last week during a speech to the NRA, Rudy Giuliani was interrupted by a cell phone call, which he stopped his speech to answer. Giuliani then told the audience, 'That was my wife reminding me to pick up some milk at the 9-Eleven'' --Seth Meyers

'This kind of seems like bad taste to me. A Giuliani fundraiser is now charging $9.11 in reference to 9/11. ... Isn't that inappropriate? I mean, isn't it like a Bill Clinton fundraiser charging $69 a head?' --Jay Leno

'Iran's president ... wanted to lay a wreath at Ground Zero, but his critics said, 'No, no. You are trying to exploit Ground Zero for political gain, and that is Rudy Giuliani's job.'' --Bill Maher

'Did you see Britney Spears at the Video Music Awards? I don't want to say that that performance was a disaster, but after the show, I saw Rudy Giuliani having his picture taken standing on her.' --Bill Maher

'Oh, I kid Rudy with love, because he is on the attack against Hillary Clinton. Have you seen this? He accused her of spitting venom at General Petraeus, and he paid for a full-page ad in the New York Times. He must miss the days when he was the mayor of New York, and the New York Times would have to print his bulls**t for free.' --Bill Maher"

Rudy's favorite words to use in speeches: "Global Terrorism", "9/11" and "Hello, Dear"

Rudy Giuliani's stubbornness and his wife's meddling could very well cost him the nomination for his party. Can Rudy overcome his biggest liabilty: his wife?

According to WSJ.com:

A lot is going well for Rudy Giuliani's campaign. His fund raising is strong. He outstrips his GOP rivals in national polls. His speeches on taxes and health care were solid. He picked up some foreign-policy gravitas with a successful trip to London.

But there is a fly in the ointment. Even members of Mr. Giuliani's own staff are appalled at how he handled the incident in which he answered a phone call from his wife, Judith, right in the middle of a nationally televised speech to the National Rifle Association.

What was that about? Columnist Robert Novak cites "supporters from outside the Giuliani staff" who claim that taking phone calls from his wife as been "part of his political bag of tricks all year." But Mr. Giuliani's deputy press secretary Jason Miller told me the NRA incident was definitely not a stunt. Instead it was a "candid and spontaneous moment" that would humanize the tough-guy former mayor with voters.

Nice try. Just in case this isn't obviously ridiculous, Fox News commissioned a poll on the subject. It found that only 9% of Americans think a candidate should ever interrupt a speech to accept a call from his spouse.

The fact is that people inside the Giuliani campaign are appalled at the number of times their candidate has felt compelled to interrupt public appearances to take calls from his wife. The estimate from those in a position to know is that he has taken such calls more than 40 times in the middle of speeches, conferences and presentations to large donors. "If it's a stunt, it's not one coming from him," says one Giuliani staffer. "It's an ongoing problem that he won't take advice on."

Giuliani To Run For President Of 9/11

From The Onion:
NEW YORK—At a well-attended rally in front of his new Ground Zero headquarters Monday, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani officially announced his plan to run for president of 9/11.

"My fellow citizens of 9/11, today I will make you a promise," said Giuliani during his 18-minute announcement speech in front of a charred and torn American flag. "As president of 9/11, I will usher in a bold new 9/11 for all."

If elected, Giuliani would inherit the duties of current 9/11 President George W. Bush, including making grim facial expressions, seeing the world's conflicts in terms of good and evil, and carrying a bullhorn at all state functions.

Word of Blog

Word of Blog is a site where you can promote your website/blog or where you can promote the work of others you like.

It's a simple concept, but a nice way to find information or people with similar interests. Unless you've got a lot of free time on your hands, you'll probably want to use the search tool, rather than browse the site.

Look up a service provider by phone

You can perform a Reverse Phone Number Lookup on WhitePages.com and learn whether a number is a land-line or cell phone as well as what service provider provides the number. Now, I wish there was a way to upload a whole list of numbers and find out which people I know are on my service providers, so I could call them for free.

How Popular is Rudy in the UK?

Who Would The World Elect is a website that detects your IP address and counts your vote under the correct country. For instance,

UNITED KINGDOM Votes for:
668 votes for Barack Obama
458 votes for Ron Paul
174 votes for Hillary Clinton
97 votes for Dennis Kucinich
60 votes for Mike Gravel
24 votes for John Edwards
24 votes for Rudy Giuliani
20 votes for John McCain
8 votes for Fred Thompson
8 votes for Mitt Romney
6 votes for Duncan Hunter
5 votes for Joe Biden
5 votes for Tom Tancredo
3 votes for Sam Brownback
3 votes for Bill Richardson
2 votes for Chris Dodd

This is interesting, as Rudy Giuliani recently said he was probably one of the 4 best-known Americans in the UK. (Perhaps, after seeing these results, this would explain why he's doing so poorly on this poll.)

It's not very scientific, but it is interesting to see how at least the educated web-savvy users in other countries see our political process. (Note that Mitt Romney gets much less votes when he's not paying for them.) I would imagine that many of these foreign "voters" have a better understanding of our candidates and their positions than the average American. That's actually pretty pathetic.

Giuliani and Cell Phones

The Atlantic recently wrote about Rudy and cell phones.
Big surprise: he doesn't like them. In fact, in one recent speech, he humiliated a woman in the audience whose phone went off while he was talking. Here's Hanna Rosin in the Atlantic last year: In Iowa, Giuliani was up to principle No. 2 ("Follow your hopes and dreams") when he was interrupted. From down in the audience, just beyond the stage, he heard a cell phone ring. He stopped in the middle of telling a story. "It's okay, you can answer your cell phone," he said. "You won't interrupt me." The woman whose phone had rung was mortified; he had just embarrassed her in front of 18,000 people.
